Monday

Hi,

It’s the first day back after the school holidays here in NZ and we survived – the holiday break that is.  It did go super quick, probably helped along with all of us having the flu at some stage during the two weeks.  I blame the boys…they had it first.  And of course, I had to join in all the fun.

So it was a quiet week for the boys in the first week and then a quiet week for me in the second week.  Luckily, Liam went off to a holiday programme  most of the second week which gave me a bit of time to recover and get some housework done.  The lovely weather helped as well and we managed to fit in a trip to the playground as well.

Anyway, this will be our last school holidays just the two of us!!  I still can’t believe that next school holidays things will be quite different.  It leads me to thinking about all the things I need to get done this term, when I have no restrictions on my creativity or my time.  There is definitely lots of crafty projects swimming around in my head and laying half finished around the place.  I really  need to get some of our overseas holidays scrapped … birthdays… Christmas’ days … you know all the hard stuff.  But being realistic… it is only going to get harder … to find the time to get all this stuff done.

So, right now I am quite inspired, quite inspired to get the most out of the next 11 weeks… the family will benefit from some yummy home cooked meals, lunch box treats and hopefully a reasonably tidy and clean house!!   I am also hoping that by being inspired, this will help the food budget as well, being more organised in this department only makes life easier for me, going to the supermarket less times each month, having that plan and making interesting and different meals.  This will mean less money spent on takeaways or last-minute meals which we don’t really enjoy eating anyway.  I am also wanting to create lovely brunches and nice lunches on the weekend, more than just the usual sandwiches but then this takes planning too.   Do you get I like planning…

So what is inspiring you at the moment, I challenge you all to post a recipe or something that inspires you on your blog!!  or even just comment below and let me know what is getting you through the dead of winter!

I do like all this planning ( think I mentioned that before), but not so much the supermarket shopping or even the cooking part.

I did manage to do another 2 layouts over the weekend, both challenges, both from sketches actually.  There seems to be so many sketch challenges out there at the moment.

Firstly, Prima BAP for July:

Another Color Room challenge:  Using these colours…

Um… why do I do this to myself… maybe I like the challenge or something.  I really struggle with purple too!

Here is my take:

Patterned Papers: Rosa Moka, Vintage Glam & Kaisercraft Rustic Charm, Bo Bunny Petal Pushers Combo Stickers, Alphas: Thickers and Cosmo Cricket Mini Alphas, Martha Stewart punch, Chipboard: Stampin’ Up! Kaiser Bling: Cheeky, Glimmer mist!!

Righto.. had better finish off this blog post so I can do some of the stuff I am planning lol.

  1. Gosh I need some of your planning, I’m trying to plan our weekly food menu for dinners etc…but I always get stuck so I will be interested to see what your plan’s are…
We only eat brunch at home now as we were sick of spending money on breakfast and it being yucky..so now I buy the best bacon from the deli and free range eggs and treat us every sunday with yummy breakfast…
We also have taken to buying really tasty deli meats to spice up the sandwiches in the lunch box…I need to get my baking hat back on and fill my frezzer with Baking goodies…

    Hugs
    Caroline

  2. Very cool layouts – love ’em!
I posted my new macaroni cheese recipe on my blog the other day, which is STILL going down well each time I make it. Could be made in advance and frozen too, which would be good for after bubs arrives!

  3. So how is that planning going? Good take on the sketches Michelle. I love doing a weekly menu plan and it keeps me focuused on making sure we get plnety of variety and makes the grocery shopping so much easier.

Recipe wise loving home made curries and fried rice and piling veggies in and handmade pizzas on bases or pita breads. Freezer wise cheese scones and muffins are in ours. Handy dandy for when people pop in.
