Hi, Today I am taking you graphic and grid style for my last layout with the April 2017 Hip Kits! We all know that scrapping the boys in our lives can sometimes be a mission, my 13 year old was complaining that … Continue reading
Today I have a new DT layout for Just Nick Studio featuring one of the new cut files in store Butterfly Background 2 cut file. As soon as I saw this file I wanted to use on it a layout as it is so pretty and whimsical. We recently had this family photo taken at my youngest daughters’ 5th birthday party and I wanted a cut file that would frame my photo and add some background detail which the butterflies do perfectly. Here is my layout:
I have used the papers and embellishments from February 2017 kits and the created my mixed media background using the March 2017 Color Kit from the Hip Kit Club. I wanted to make my layout as pretty and whimsical as possible so I added a bit of mixed media to my background patterned paper by using a Shimmers Raspberry Sherbert Paste-eez texture paste applied with a credit card as well as adding some mint and gold mist. I then added the Butterfly cut file cut out on white cardstock and then added some navy patterned paper to the larger butterflies. I love the way the butterflies look on the textured background and how the white pops on it as well. I then added some layers of pink, mint and yellow patterned papers and ephemera from the Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams collection and then matted the patterned paper background back onto some white cardstock and added some machine stitching to create more texture to my page.
Thanks for stopping by the blog today! I hope you have enjoyed my layout using this gorgeous butterflies background.
I haven’t been doing a lot of creating lately but today I am going to share my design team layouts for Just Nick Studio for October.
My first layout features Pretty Little Studio’s – Here Come’s The Sun collection. How amazingly adorable is this collection – I couldn’t resist buying lots of it to create my layout. I have used two different Just Nick Cut Files on my layout: Heart Explosion Background and the Simple Scallop Strips and I loved using the bright pops of colour from the this collection behind both of the cut files on my page.
My second layout is a Halloween inspired layout and I went all out girly pretty Halloween style for this one! I love creating texture with cut files so I cut out the Hey Spidey Background cut file in white cardstock and then layered it back onto white again. I added pops of mint green patterned paper under some of the sections of web and added the puffy stickers and enamel dots to the points and negative spaces of the web as well. I loved the ‘Too cute to spook’ title from the 31 cut file set was just perfect for the sentiment that I wanted to portray. I cut this out on black cardstock pop dotted it to add some dimension to my page and used this as my title.
Some close ups:
That’s all I have for today, I hope you have enjoyed my layouts with the fabulous cut files from the Just Nick Store!
Today I am sharing a layout and a couple of cards that I created for the Jillibean Soup DT call. I didn’t make the team but I sure had lots of fun creating them – they are such fun products to work with and perfect for both layouts and cards.
For my layout and also on the two cards I used Jillibean Soup Alphabet Soup II collection with a few bits and bobs from stash. This collection is great for school layouts and I also did a thank you card for Aimee’s kindy teachers when she recently moved kindy.
Thanks for stopping by my blog today ! I have some more to share with you tomorrow so hope to see you soon. xx M
My second layout share of the day!! I haven’t felt that well this holidays so my creative mojo had definitely left the building!! So what do you do when you don’t feel like being creative but actually miss it. You start organising your scrap room which if I had my way would be well kitted out with custom furniture but budget constraints right now means more of a temporary measure! My room is teeny. 1.8m x 1.8m square with no windows = essentially a giant cupboard but it is a space to be creative and to store everything in our smallish house (218sqm).
This is my first layout I have actually created in there – usually I head out to the dining room table and of course – spread out over most of the table, and the island bench and the buffet table – well you get the drift. I have used an older Hip Kit – not sure which one. I love creating Christmas layouts in a non-traditional way using just general products.
I hope you like!!
Catching up on blogging today after a fun filled but a bit crazy school holidays here in NZ. I have a layout using Life is Beautiful collection from Cocoa Vanilla Studio. The photo is one I took of Taylor over the Easter holidays at Sandspit Holiday Park. There is rope swing down at the beach which the kids loved playing on, loved this photo even though her eyes are mostly closed. Shows the stunning scenery behind her as well – we are having a great long summer and we have definitely taken advantage of the hot sunny weather. Some close ups:
Thanks for stopping by, have you seen that Cocoa Vanilla Studio now has exclusive cut files for the Cameo Silhouette, check them out here
Today I have a layout to share for Cocoa Vanilla Studio which I have created with the Totally Rad collection.
I started my layout with an idea that I needed to get some use out of my Cameo Silohuette and create a layout using a cut file as its base. The cut file is called ‘Totally Tubular Background‘ by Just Nick Digital Cut Files. I am really drawn to using patterned paper within the negative space of the cut file which is really easy to do. I used the left over pieces of the circles from the inside of my cute file and cut around the edge of them (just so you see a small amount of patterned paper) and then slipped them under the cut file. Then, the fun part! Adding a photo and embellishments!
When I embellish my scrap pages (actually even when using colours and patterned paper) I try and balance the colours and shapes using the ‘visual triangle’ I find this technique helps my layout design and is really pleasing to the eye. On this page, you can see I have done this with the wood veneers, the stars, and even the colour palette (with the black circles). When I add embellishments to my layouts, i try to layer them not straight on top of each other but more off to the side so that it creates interest and depth to my layering. The Totally Rad Ephemera, flair and stickers are great ways of adding layers to your layout. Lastly, I added some of the little star enamel dots and some sequins from the bits and pieces pack in the top left and top bottom corners. Again, this creates flow on the page and balance as well.
I hope I have inspired you to use ‘the visual triangle’ on your scrapbooking pages. It is really an easy but super clever way of creating interesting yet balanced pages.
Thanks for stopping by xx…
Hi, today I am sharing a layout for Hip Kit Club using the February 2016 Kits. I have used one of my favourite patterned papers in the kit for my background and I love how the black and white photo and the other papers/project life cards ‘pop’ on the navy spots! I have also used some of the project life cards and Amy Tangerine stickers and frame as embellishments on my page! Taylor loosing her first tooth was a momentous occasion in our house and I couldn’t wait to record this special event in her life.
Thanks for stopping by my blog today! I hope you have enjoyed my layouts with the February Hip Kits. I have one more for next week before my March kit arrives hopefully in the next day or so. Til next time Mxx
Hi everyone, hope 2016 has been amazing so far! For some reason, my WordPress has been a pain and not wanting to add any photos to my blog post so I haven’t been able to post any layout pictures in the last couple of weeks. But it seems to be back on track so fingers crossed.
Here are two layouts I have done with the Hip Kit Club – December Kits. The first one is of Taylor and I on New Years Eve. I used the cut file designed by Nicole Nowosad for the December Kits to create my background by using the ‘stars’ as a mask with texture paste. I then added a piece of the vellum from the Cardstock Add On Kit to soften the pale green cardstock that I have used on my background.
My second layout with the December Kit is a cute one of Aimee and one of the birds that is at Sandspit Holiday Park. For this layout, I used a few pages from the Maggie Holmes Shine Collection 6″ paper pack from the December Embellishment Kit. I also loved the wood veneer ‘dream today’ which I altered and coloured in a cute mint colour. The birds from the Maggie Holmes Shine Collection Chipboard pieces were perfect embellishments for my photo too.
Hope you have enjoyed my two layouts with the December Kits. I have one more to come this week so will share when I can.
Take care xx
Today I have a layout to share with you for Sketchabilities Sketch #143. Another amazing sketch this fortnight and I enjoyed taking part again. I have been subbing to the Hip Kit Club scrapbooking kits for awhile now and I have so much lovely new product that I am dying to use so I thought taking part in a few challenges would be a good way to go. Here is the sketch:
And here is my take:This layout is of some cheeky girls at Petra’s 5th birthday. Gosh the girls are growing up! Gotta love the silly faces…I have used a mixture of the May and June Hip Kits to create my layout. Here are some close ups:
