Hi everyone, Michelle here with a new layout created with the July 2017 Hip Kits. Today my inspiration comes from Color, the fun embellishments in these kits and my crazy goofy photo. Here is my layout: I really wanted to … Continue reading
Hi everyone! today I have a new summer filled layout to share with you for Just Nick Studio! I really love creating summer layouts especially down here in NZ when it is actually Winter it makes me feel a lot warmer and keeps me sane until summer arrives for us again. Here is my layout using the ‘Summer‘ cut file to create my title!
As you can see below the ‘Summer‘ cut file set includes five different cuts including gorgeous sun rays and lots of fun words along the summer theme! But for me I really wanted to go large with my title and I enlarged it to fit the full width of the 12×12 cutting mat and cut it out in a subtle patterned paper by Pink Fresh Studio. I then backed it on the soft buttery yellow cardstock as this colour just reminds me of sunny sunshine.
Once I had decided that my title would sit across the page in the lower two thirds of my page I created some interest with a mixed media background and then tucked my photo in and slightly over the two MMs of SUMMER. As the title is so large it doesn’t matter that my photo slightly overlaps here as you can still make the the letters very easily. I then created lots of little embellishing around my photo and also on the bottom part of the R to give it some balance with my bottom cluster, my photo cluster and then this finishes the visual triangle.
Here are some close ups:
I hope you have enjoyed my ‘summery’ layout today!
My next layout share is a Mixed Media one! I don’t do a lot of mixed media but I totally enjoyed creating this one with the Hip Kit Club March 2017 kits!
I started off with the patterned paper from the Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams collection and added some white gesso to it and then used the stencil from this month’s Color Kit with the Paste-eez (Hold the Mustard and Raspberry Sherbet) in a grid design and then added some extra straight to my page with an old credit card.
I really wanted to add some more vertical design so I created the linked circles in my Silhouette Cameo and used these circles to anchor my embellishments.
I really loved the way this turned out and I am totally enjoying getting the Color Kits from the Hip Kit Club each month. It is a great way to try out new mixed media products and they work so well with the monthly main and embellishment kits.
Thanks for stopping by today xx M
I wanted to share this layout I created yesterday using a 6×4 inch paper pad from Heidi Swapp that I purchased from Spotlight. I just love this photo of Liam and Aimee hanging out in the playground outside the Birkenhead library. I love the composition of the photo and how the colours pop. Also love that Taylor is in the background too. The colours in the photo work so well with the Heidi Swapp Hello Today paper pad and there is so many papers in this pad that I still have loads left! I don’t generally use lots of patterned papers on my layouts and this one has a few layers but lots of white space too. I quite like the economics of purchasing smaller sized paper pads as I find I can still get the look I am after without having to purchase 12×12 sheets. I have also used some of the Empherema embellishment pack to embellish my layout too.
As I went along I took some photos of how I created my mixed media background so I thought I would add a little tutorial here as well. Firstly, I sprayed a decent amount of water onto some white cardstock (which is hard to see here). I wanted to soften the Navy mist and also I wanted the colours to ‘run’ down my page.
I added these triangles that I hand cut to the opposite corners of my cardstock. I love how the pink tied in with the pink leggings that Aimee is wearing. Now I really like the tag labels from Cotton On – for a boyish look. The front has the Cotton On logo but the back is plain. So I added this to my layout.
Reverse side of the tag with the original twine, and a label from the Empherema pack, adored and love is from a SNAP alpha, cork arrow is Studio Calico.
I then mirrored the embellishing at the bottom of the page, added some detail with my sewing machine.
Added my title using my Jillybean Soup Chipboard Alpha and then the Heidi Swapp Glittered word to the top of it. I wanted to add a bit more pink to balance the layout more.
Lastly – added more detail with the star and mini alphas:
I just LOVE this colour combo. Navy Blue and Hot Pink. This layout came together super easy… about 45 mins from start to finish. I love it when layouts come together like this… for me it was being inspired by my photo first and then the colours in the Paper Pack worked so well with the photo too.
I hope you have enjoyed seeing my latest layout and my wee tutorial about how I put it all together! I am quite enjoying sharing my creative process with you – if you have anything you would like to know about – drop me a comment and I can see what I can pull together.
Til next time
