Hi everyone, today I have a new layout to share with you for the Hip Kit Club! This was for part of the Thursday Inspiration Blog Post which was Mixing Bold Patterns. You could say I went super bold … Continue reading
Today, I have a layout I have created for the Hip Kit Club showcasing ‘Artful Clusters’ and ‘Stickers’. In fact I have challenged myself to only use ‘things that stick’ and mixed media on my page so my layout has no other elements to it and I love how it turned out!
I wanted to create two clusters on my page so I started off by adding some white gesso and mixed media work with the Prima WaterColor confections (May 2017 Color Kit) watered down to decrease their intensity. I have used the ‘grassland’ and ‘thunderstorm’ colours together to create a two toned effect as these colours matched my photos the best. I then added lots of stickers mainly from the Shimelle little by little collection sticker book from the May 2017 Project Life Kit. This book of stickers had so many options from washi to alphas to that adorable bear!! I kept my colour palette quite simple with mainly blues/greens and black and white.

Today I have a new layout to share for Just Nick Studio!! I have used two cut files on my layout, firstly the gorgeous Delicate Butterflies and also the Word 4 cut files which I used to create my title.
I knew as soon as I saw this cut file I knew it would be perfect for these photos of my daughters entering the wearable arts competition at our caravan. Yes my girls outfits are made out of paper!! I really love the vintage vibe of this cut file which I cut out on a floral patterned paper from the Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams collection. As the name would suggest, this is a very delicate cut file – I would definitely recommend cutting it out with a sharp blade and not having a too sticky mat as it is very fine. I really liked how the butterflies flowed down the page and I was able to tuck my photos in and around the file this helps your eye wander down the page from the first photo to my second photo too.
Next, I wanted to add a second cut file to my layout – and the Word 4 file worked perfectly for a fun title, and adding it on the larger butterflies added an extra layer of dimension to my page too. I first cut out the outline in some teal coloured cardstock so that it matched the colours is in the embellishments and the cut file. Then I cut it out on white cardstock to fill in the file and make it pop off the page.
I really enjoyed cutting out these files and using patterned paper added some interest and variance in colour to the butterflies and of course made it super easy to embellish with more of the Maggie Holmes collection.
Thanks for stopping by the blog today! Do you cut files with mainly cardstock or do you use patterned paper as well?
Hi, Today I am back with aclean and simple layout featuring the Word 4 cut file for Just Nick Studio. I really wanted to keep my cut file the main focus of the page so I decided to cut it out LARGE! I am really happy with the way this turned out.
First, I cut the file out on patterned paper so it gave me the green/blue outline and then I recut the file out on some cardstock, I first, made the cut file ever so slightly bigger so that it fit easily in the negative space of my outline. I decided to keep my photo neutral and print it out in black and white and I love the softness of it agains the bold title!

To create my layout I have used products from a mixture of Hip Kits, including the January 2017 Project Life kit. I have created another processing video of how I created this layout so I hope you enjoy it!
My next layout share is a Mixed Media one! I don’t do a lot of mixed media but I totally enjoyed creating this one with the Hip Kit Club March 2017 kits!
I started off with the patterned paper from the Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams collection and added some white gesso to it and then used the stencil from this month’s Color Kit with the Paste-eez (Hold the Mustard and Raspberry Sherbet) in a grid design and then added some extra straight to my page with an old credit card.
I really wanted to add some more vertical design so I created the linked circles in my Silhouette Cameo and used these circles to anchor my embellishments.
I really loved the way this turned out and I am totally enjoying getting the Color Kits from the Hip Kit Club each month. It is a great way to try out new mixed media products and they work so well with the monthly main and embellishment kits.
Thanks for stopping by today xx M
Today I have a new DT layout for Just Nick Studio featuring one of the new cut files in store Butterfly Background 2 cut file. As soon as I saw this file I wanted to use on it a layout as it is so pretty and whimsical. We recently had this family photo taken at my youngest daughters’ 5th birthday party and I wanted a cut file that would frame my photo and add some background detail which the butterflies do perfectly. Here is my layout:
I have used the papers and embellishments from February 2017 kits and the created my mixed media background using the March 2017 Color Kit from the Hip Kit Club. I wanted to make my layout as pretty and whimsical as possible so I added a bit of mixed media to my background patterned paper by using a Shimmers Raspberry Sherbert Paste-eez texture paste applied with a credit card as well as adding some mint and gold mist. I then added the Butterfly cut file cut out on white cardstock and then added some navy patterned paper to the larger butterflies. I love the way the butterflies look on the textured background and how the white pops on it as well. I then added some layers of pink, mint and yellow patterned papers and ephemera from the Maggie Holmes Chasing Dreams collection and then matted the patterned paper background back onto some white cardstock and added some machine stitching to create more texture to my page.
Thanks for stopping by the blog today! I hope you have enjoyed my layout using this gorgeous butterflies background.
