My latest share for the Hip Kit Club is on a Thursday inspiration post along with designers, Cara and Anna with a project each featuring these products. This week, we are featuring the Alphas and Numbers that were included with in the April 2017 kits – please head over to the blog post to see how the other designers worked with these products here.
Here is my project:
I decided to use the Vicki Boutin Crayons to color in the numbers from the watercolor sticker sheet both of which are in the April Color Kit to create a countdown to FIVE on my layout and used a photo of my youngest daughter Aimee on her recent birthday! It is so easy to just color these in and add some water and they create the most beautiful color.
I am super excited to be the Guest Designer for Scrap Our Stash for June. The June Scrap Our Stash challenge is to use the word = B R A D S as the basis of designing layout. Here is how I used these elements on my layout.
I just love taking part in challenges which use up my stash. As like most scrapbookers – I do have a fair bit of that. For this layout I was inspired by an Instagram photo of my daughter and her best friend at dancing together. I love using lots of product on my layouts along with white space for balance – so I have included lots of layering and lots of words to portray my feelings about the photo I am scrapbooking and the girls cute bond at such a young age. I was instantly drawn to using the colour Blue which was perfect for the word challenge. I started off my layout with some pale blue mist and some hand drawn circles on some white cardstock and then I dug into my stash for some gorgeous products from Maggie Holmes, Dear Lizzy, Heidi Swapp and Freckled Fawn. Finishing it off with some sequins to add some interest.
B – The colour blue
R – Round circles drawn on my layout
A – Arrows
D – doily/doodling
S – Stickers, sequins, stamping
I would like to just thank ‘Scrap Our Stash’ for inviting me to be a Guest Designer for June. I have loved creating a layout for this challenge. I hope to see all your challenge entries in the gallery so do link up your projects for a chance to win this month’s amazing prize pack full of Simple Stories and other yummy goodies!!.
Today I have a layout to share with you that I have created for Color Stories Inspiration #154. This one is quite different for me but I loved this photo of my girls and one of their adventures on our Christmas holiday to the caravan.
And my layout:
Evidence: Wood grain (wood veneers) and Stripes
Testimony: My journaling is on the back. But I used the prompt word ‘possibilities’ “The possibilities are endless when you are running wild and free on holiday. Here Aimee and Taylor spent hours crab hunting on the mud flats with friends. I love the opportunities that camping brings to explore new things and have adventures. The possibilities are truly endless…”
Details:Products used: Hip Kit Club November Kit, Heidi Swapp Favourite Things, Fancy Pants – True Friend, American Crafts Amy Tan Stitched Thickers and Maggie Holmes Open Book, Freckled Fawn
Thanks for stopping by today. If you do get a chance come and play with us at CSI for this challenge they are loads of fun!
Today I have a layout to share for Color Stories Inspiration #131. Here is the case file:
And here is my layout:
I just loved this sketch! The woodgrain worked perfectly too with my photos from the Rotorua Marathon. The Pretty Plaid cameo cut is from The Cut Shoppe which can be found here. Prior to cutting it, I resized it and then trimed it slightly to get it to work under my photo and turned it so that it was up and down rather than diagonal.
Evidence – wood grain, plaid and pen work
Testimony – journalled about an outdoor activity which is on the back of my layout. It was super cold outside on the morning of the Rotorua Marathon but it didn’t stop the three of you from enjoying playing at a playground near the start line and playing with the leaves that had fallen on the ground
Close ups:This was a great sketch to get 5 photos on one layout. Perfect for an event type layout.
I did these layouts just for fun at Autumn Escape. Not often I have time to create just for me and I enjoyed not having any design criteria to adhere too in these layouts. Mostly I have used my Crazy Monday Kits for most of these layouts with a few little things here and there from my stash. It was super easy to create these at the retreat and having kits meant it was way easier to know what to actually to pack!
I just wanted to share a layout that I did the other day ‘just because’. It is not often that I can find the time to do a layout without using it for a design team commitment. It is very nice to have the freedom to just let the creativity flow without being confined to challenge requirements.
I also have a few CMK kits piling up right now so I want to use up some of my older kits that only have a few papers left so I can of course make way for new kits and products!
This is what I created…
close ups:I‘ve used a mixture of Maggie Holmes Flea Market Collection papers / embellishments and chipboard, the chipboard word and background paper were from a Crazy Monday Kit and a bit of my older stash is in there too. I know there are a few kits available at the moment so if you were thinking of taking the plunge and going in the kit direction it is a great way of getting a variety of products to scrap with which nicely coordinate so the hard work of choosing all the different elements has already been done for you! Check out Crazy Monday Kits for more information.
Another gorgeous sketch has been revealed today on the CS Blog. The design team did another amazing job so please do check out everyone’s take on the sketch. So the first sketch for 2014 – Crazy really aye. Here it is:
I just love the versatility of this sketch. You could have a multiphoto layout easily or use the small squares and create little mini layouts on the one larger layout which is what I have done. I honestly cannot get enough of the Maggie Holmes FleaMarket Collection from Crate Paper. I used it again to create this layout of my girls. We spend a fair bit of time trucking Liam back and forward to various practices and extra curricular activities. Often we find ourselves waiting in the car for him to finish his practices so basically this is snapshot of the girls hanging out in the front seat with me at one of Liam’s cricket practice. I’m truly lucky you girls are mostly good hanging out and here you were dressed up in cute little dresses and looking beautiful — this is what the journalling is about on my layout.

Righto. Back to the school holidays for me. Another day of child entertainment mixed in with housework and organising for me.
I hope you are all enjoying a nice holiday break. Shame about the weather here in Auckland ! Although it has been so nice the last month or so we shouldn’t really complain! This weather has been a perfect excuse for me to catch up on some scrapbooking. I have a few things I can’t share yet as they are for DT commitments but I have two layouts I can.
Firstly, I played along with a challenge set over at Studio Calico to be inspired by Anna-Maria’s background techniques using positive and negative masking.
On my layout I used a Prima Mask which I applied a Gelato straight onto it. I concentrated more of the colour in the centre of my layout and less as we got further out towards the edge of my page. It did however get a bit stuck on the grooves of the mask so to make a dreamy washed out effect I added water to the brush that came with the set and washed it over the mask as well. I then added a piece of home made mask of hearts that I cut out on my cameo. This was something I had used previously for texture paste and gold MIST! I sprayed it with SC Mister Huey Heirloom Blue and tore it and added a piece under my photo.
I really wanted to keep the colours as monochromatic as possible with minimal embellishing. A few stars and wood veneers added to finish it off. My second layout is one I started I think for a challenge a month or so ago but never finished before the deadline. This one has lots of layers! And I just love the pics of Taylor dressed up first as a fairy and then as BATMAN. She makes a cute Batman or Spiderman. And she loves dressing up in general! Some details:Thanks for stopping by today!
Wow – another reveal is up at Creative Scrappers! Where does the time go! Another amazing sketch by Jenny for you all to play along with this time:
I must admit lots of little boxes and photos SCARES me lol. But doing what scares us is good for us right! Here is my take on the sketch:
Close ups:Another layout of Aimee – who is growing up super fast! She is just a wee character! I keep thinking she is older than only 20 months because she is following in the footsteps of her big brother and sister. Using Maggie Holmes again. This is such a lovely collection … my go to papers. I just love mint, pink, navy and gold COMBOs.
An amazing prize this month!!! To Win a prize from The Twinery all you need to do is create a layout and enter the challenges using our inlinkz widget at the end of the reveals for Sketch 257-258. The deadline for this challenge is midnight on 31st December!
I hope you are all ready for Christmas… it has been a crazy busy time for us over the last few months. Hoping now for a nice holiday break to get some stuff done around the house and maybe some scrapping / blogging time for me! I haven’t been that creative and my room has been abandoned! I have missed being creative and lookiing forward to getting stuck into some layouts over the next few weeks and share here too.
