Hi, Today I am taking you graphic and grid style for my last layout with the April 2017 Hip Kits! We all know that scrapping the boys in our lives can sometimes be a mission, my 13 year old was complaining that … Continue reading
Hi everyone (is anyone still out there?)
Seriously though, my blog is always seems to be neglected these days. Instagram and Facebook have taken over my social media sharing but sometimes just sometimes I manage to get some layouts actually here on my blog. Today I have had to go to grab coffee and work on my laptop in order to actually sit down and sort out blogging! It really feels like I have been doing lots of creating lately but mostly for DT stuff in the future so I can’t really share it yet which probably makes me feel like I am not sharing my stuff enough but in reality I haven’t actually been able to yet.
Right so today, I have a layout I have created for Cocoa Vanilla Studio! Unfortunately, some new goodies have gotten a wee bit lost in transit on the way to me in NZ so I haven’t been able to play with any new goodies just yet. In the meantime, here is a layout with Made of Awesome.
This turned out to be a super fast layout. Probably about 20 minutes in total – I say that is a testament to such a great collection that is so easy to work with. There embellishments are perfect and fit well with boys of all ages and the patterned papers work really well together as well. Liam got his bottom braces put on his teeth on the 14th June so I wanted to take a before photo of him with his teeth so we could compare later. It has been a long time coming with many orthodontist appointments before Liam had finally lost enough teeth and we were ready to go. The weird thing is the same orthodontist that did my braces is now doing Liam’s braces!
Here are some close ups:
Thanks for stopping by and checking out my latest blog post !
Today I am sharing a layout I have created using the Made of Awesome Collection by Cocoa Vanilla Studio. This is truly a ‘fun’ and ‘happy’ collection and so easy to use!! Today, I have a layout of my 11 year old son posing with a certificate he received for an academic achievement at school and I love that the Ephemera in this collection has lots of ‘good positive words’ which worked perfectly with my layout. To begin, I sprayed my white card stock with some Warm Calico mist and then added some sprays of water and allowed the heavy misting to run up and down the page.
Next, I started layering up the patterned papers from the collection under my photo, I stitched on some banners and then adding in some Ephemera and the frame around my photo (the top of my photo had some artwork and by adding this frame I covered this over – creating a cleaner look).
To create further interest I added a border strip of the ‘Directions’ patterned paper at the top and bottom. And then added some more Ephemera and stickers from the sticker sheet and finished off with a splattering of the enamel dots, cork and veneer stars (from the Flying High collection) to create flow and tie the layout together.
Thanks for stopping by my blog today!
Back again this time with a layout for CSI. Case file no 168 is a fun one with gorgeous colours and lots of fun things to include as evidence and of course the opportunity to journal another great story.
Here is my DT example:Evidence: Grid pattern, clouds, a pair of them, transparency (the you are here journal card) and a star
Testimony: I scattered my journaling in two places and I journaled about Liam’s last day at primary school (a happy but sad occasion!)
Most of the products on my layout are from Cocoa Vanilla Studio – Flying High Collection. These were just perfect colours for this colour scheme and I can’t say it enough they are just so easy to work with, perfect for layouts of our boys.
Thanks for stopping by today… and you have time to take part in this awesome challenge for some great prizes from our sponsors!
Today I have a layout to share with you for Sketch #134 at Sketchabilities. This is my last sketch as a designer for Sketchabilities as my second term is up. I have had so much fun creating with Karan’s sketches over my two terms and will miss creating with these sketches. I am looking forward to seeing what the new design team create and hope I will have time to play along with some future sketches as a participant.
Righto this fortnight’s sketch
And my take –It is a nice coincidence that my layout features a cricket photo of Liam considering the Cricket World Cup is on right now. This is Liam on his first game of hardball for cricket this season all kitted out. It has been a bit of a challenge for him to bat this season with all the gear on but he has had a good season none the less. I have used lots of Amy Tan Stitched and a bit of Plus One on this one… along with a misted background to make the colours in the photo pop!
Next up is a layout for Color Stories Inspiration. We have started a tradition of a decorating the tree photo shoot of the kids which I just love doing. The color palate for CSI 150 was perfect for showcasing a photo from the shoot.
Evidence: arrows and holiday accents.
Today I have a layout to share with you for Sketchabilities. It is the first reveal of the new DT so do check out all the amazing inspiration over at the Sketchabilities Blog. Sketch 127:
This is such a cute sketch. I love the smaller photos as it allows you to add lots of photos but still have white space and lots of layering and details too. I actually rotated the sketch and used landscape photos of us taking selfies and having smoothies last summer. I broke into a fresh Crazy Monday Kit and mixed it in with some Amy Tan Empherema and Maggie Holmes is in there as well.
I totally loved the hot pinks and white combo and offset this with touches of black to give it a bit of pop! Mostly, I have used up some of my Crazy Monday Kits on this one again. One of the main things I love about doing colour challenges is that it gets me using up that stash. Again, Project Life cards feature on my layout – I find these work so well slipped in under photos and I love the ‘so this happened’ card which was pretty fitting for having our third child!! The white arrow is from the Cut Shoppe.
My second layout is the CC-3 collaboration file. Which is also the first dt reveal for the new DT at CSI. There is some AMAZING inspiration up on the blog here
To create my background I first added some sprays of water with my spritzer onto my white cardstock so that it is nice and wet and then I added some pale yellow water colour from my SC Mister Huey watercolour set. I then used a Heidi Swapp mask with some texture paste and added some mist splatters. The feather is from the Cut Shoppe which I have misted with a Heidi Swapp mist to match the colour scheme.
Both case files are up now on the CSI website so I hope you can play along with us !!
Another layout I have created recently for Color Stories Inspiration is another layout featuring a photo from Fiji. The kids all had a ball with the kids club and the Fijian people have a real love of kids that come to visit. The case file:
Testimony: Used the world REAL. Journalling is behind the photo.
As you can see I have used the cut file from the Cut Shoppe – ‘And then’ which I used in my previous post here. I love how one cut can go two ways with the positive and negative images being able to be used on my layouts.
I will have another layout to share for CSI shortly.
On to the layout…. I thought I would do something a bit different and I have used ‘And Then’ cut file on my layout but instead of using the actual file, I have used the positive left over Ampersands to create a mixed media background using texture paste. It is a really simple technique background to achieve, firstly, just paint on some texture paste or similar gel medium would work. I then used this is a glue and added the Ampersands randomly overlapping to create some texture and interest. I love the white on white look as it creates interest without too much clutter on the page.
