Really Beautiful | Hip Kit Club

Happy Thursday everyone.

Today I wanted to share a layout I created for a challenge over at the Paper Issues Facebook group.  I am still not so patiently waiting for my March Hip Kits so I am doing a bit of stash busting right now.

At kindy this week I helped on a trip along the estuary walk way to one of Aimee’s kindy teacher’s homes where we had a picnic morning tea on her massive front lawn.  The kids had a ball, it was a good 5km walk and they all managed so well.  The highlight was using the toilet at the teachers house !  I snapped this photo of Aimee and one of her kindy teachers (Sharon) as Aimee had jumped in her lap for a cuddle.  I love how happy and comfortable Aimee is snuggled in there.  I just had to scrap it.

I have used lots of older Hip Kits mixed up together . It  was a white space challenge so 2/3rds of your page had to be white space.

Hello Santa | Hip Kit Club

My second layout share of the day!!  I haven’t felt that well this holidays so my creative mojo had definitely left the building!!  So what do you do when you don’t feel like being creative but actually miss it.  You start organising your scrap room which if I had my way would be well kitted out with custom furniture but budget constraints right now means more of a temporary measure!  My room is teeny.  1.8m x 1.8m square with no windows = essentially a giant cupboard but it is a space to be creative and to store everything in our smallish house (218sqm).

This is my first layout I have actually created in there – usually I head out to the dining room table and of course – spread out over most of the table, and the island bench and the buffet table – well you get the drift.  I have used an older Hip Kit – not sure which one.  I love creating Christmas layouts in a non-traditional way using just general products.

I hope you like!!

Hip Kit |December Kit

Hi everyone, hope 2016 has been amazing so far!  For some reason, my WordPress has been a pain and not wanting to add any photos to my blog post so I haven’t been able to post any layout pictures in the last couple of weeks. But it seems to be back on track so fingers crossed.

Here are two layouts I have done with the Hip Kit Club – December Kits. The first one is of Taylor and I on New Years Eve.  I used the cut file designed by Nicole Nowosad for the December Kits to create my background by using the ‘stars’ as a mask with texture paste.  I then added a piece of the vellum from the Cardstock Add On Kit to soften the pale green cardstock that  I have used on my background.

My second  layout with the December Kit is a cute one of Aimee and  one of the birds that  is at Sandspit Holiday Park.  For this layout, I used a few pages from the Maggie Holmes Shine Collection 6″ paper pack from the December Embellishment Kit.  I also loved the wood veneer ‘dream today’ which I altered and coloured in a cute mint colour.  The birds from the Maggie Holmes Shine Collection Chipboard pieces were perfect embellishments for my photo too.

Take care xx

A bloggy update

Hi everyone,

I can’t believe we are in October already… now that crazy September is over and done with I am feeling that much more saner about the world, building houses, and birthday parties galore made it a fun yet full on month.

I know I haven’t shared my latest Cocoa Vanilla Studio layout on my blog yet so I thought I would take a few minutes peace whilst the kids are eating their lunch (School holidays here in NZ).

The two new collections Life is Beautiful and Tis the Season for Cocoa Vanilla Studio are both amazing.  On my layout I have used mostly Tis the Season on a non-traditional Christmas layout.  I have chosen a photo which I think is actually 6 x 8 inches in size which is photo you get when you buy the package of photos when you go to a touristy type attraction.  This is a photo of Aimee and myself on the chair lift after going down the luge together! I really loved all the photos  you get when you go on these attractions but they aren’t the best quality photos and usually I never do anything with them but I decided to challenge myself.Love You & Me

As my photo is a larger landscape photo – I wanted to balance out the photo by adding some different sized strips of the patterned paper at the bottom of the photo to ‘ground’ it.    And I have left the rest of the layout quite simply embellished – I took advantage of having white space in my photo to add my title from the sticker sheet  LOVE with a cute border strip to anchor it.  I finished off my layout with a couple of embellishment clusters from the ephemera and sticker sheets from both Life is Beautiful and Tis the Season collections.

I also have another layout to share with that I created as part of my DT application for Hip Kit Club’s Creative Team.

2015 09 15_7237_edited-1

I’ve used products from mainly the July 2015 Hip Kit and then added in some Cocoa Vanilla Studio wood veneer from Life Is Beautiful.

That’s all I have to share for today!  Lots of blog posts going around in my head though – just need a few more hours to write them all.

Pretty at 3 | Color Stories Inspiration #171

It is a rainy Monday morning here and after the weekend I am catching up after the weekend with blogging some scrap layouts I have completed recently.  I have a busy week so trying to get on top of all the house stuff and things so it is less stressful all round.  I have always got great intentions of being organised, meal plan and such like but often feel like I am even too busy for that.  What do you guys get up too to be organised for the week!

In the meantime, here is case file 171 for CSI.  I really liked this colour scheme although struggled a bit end the end… the mojo has been lacking of late!

And here is how I solved the case file:

CSI 171 unframed

To create my background I used ‘the all heart’ cut file from The Cut Shoppe as a stencil with texture paste.

Evidence: Stripes, Triangles, food related embellishment, jar, labels, something transparent, texture paste, wood and cork and dots!
Testimony: Documented a celebration – Aimee’s third birthday!!

Swing!

Hi again,

I know another post and another layout.  It is the first day back after school holidays here in NZ.  It is so nice and quiet here this morning without the rug rats.  Although it was a culture shock to get us all out the door early this morning.  I’m sure the kids are all having fun at school, kindy and creche!  In the meantime, here is a layout just for fun.  Don’t get to do that very often!!  This one is of Aimee and her friend Adisyn at creche on the swings.  Usually on Wednesday this is the first thing the girls get up too when we drop them off – thanks Wendy for the cool photo too. Friends Swing

Sketchabilities #142

Hi,

I’m up to date with most of my DT work at the moment so I thought I would get out my recent June kit from the Hip Kit Club and play along with a Sketchabilities sketch #142.

Sketchabilities July 13

I just LOVE all the summery colours in the June Kit and the Pool Side Ephemera is to so much fun to use – perfect for layering up of embellishments.  Makes me wish it was summer here in NZ.  Well right now when it is freezing  most things make me wish it was summer!!  Even though my photo is actually a photo taken in Winter here in NZ – I loved the bright colours and the sentiments of ‘Hello there sunshine” was perfect for my youngest child.  I love switching up themes to make them work for me. I do have some summer photos left to scrap which would also be perfect for this kit.

Cocoa Vanilla Studio – In (LOVE) with Sugar & Spice

Hi everyone,

On the weekend I shared this layout on the Cocoa Vanilla Studio blog featuring the gorgeous Sugar & Spice collection!

Here I have used a cut file which I have outlined in black pen from The Cut Shoppe to create a cute background for my photo.  I love adding pieces of patterned paper underneath the cut file to add interest and it is a great way of using up your left over scraps of paper too.  How cute are those banners wood veneer – they have to be one of my favourite products from the whole collection.

Scrap your stash

Happy Monday everyone,

I’ve had a lovely morning scrapping with my bestie… it is amazing how just spending some time hanging out and doing something creative has had a positive impact on my day.  I can’t share what I have created yet this morning as it is secret squirrel design team stuff but I can share a layout i did yesterday for a challenge website called Scrap Your Stash – hmmm I think I have a fair bit of stash to get through so it was super easy for me to play along!!

The March challenge is to use the word STENCIL as the basis for your layout.  So S = T = and so on.  Here is my layout:

love this S = Stars, T = texture paste, E = envelope N = number in my title, C = corrugated card stock, I = ink – pen work  L = lined paper

Close up:

love this detail

I used Maggie Holmes Open Book mainly for this one, including the gorgeous gold doily, stars and arrows are Freckled Fawn.

I had heaps of fun taking part in this challenge – I am definitely going to play along when I can.
