Day 3

So Day 3 is sort of like Hump Day… two days down two days to go.

So, probably coffee after dinner was a  bad bad plan. So last night ended up being a pretty late night for me.  Also probably a bad plan when you are solo parenting.  Taylor decided to do a 45 min nap at so was up for an hour or so from about 8pm.  Another feed and she was back down again by 9pm and slept right through the night again.  Although grizzled and coughed a few times.  Managed to stall her to 7.30am before getting her up for the day.

I was meant to catch up with a friend for coffee but that fell through so we made a quick decision to meet up with Miss Chloe and Master Adam and their mums Sarah and Maree at Lollipops in Ellerslie which actually was REALLY pleasant considering it was  school holidays and if only Anna and Liam hadn’t decided to be silly and not want to play with each other and they made a bit of fuss about it whilst we were there.

So YES.. I have finally made it as an official “chipmum” I feel honoured Sarah and Maree and there was even hot chips!!  The Ellerslie lollipops caters for smaller children so much better than the North Shore one and Taylor had a ball in the ball pit!!  It was so funny to watch, she started out sitting up and ended up almost completely buried in the balls but not fussed at all.  All three kids enjoyed playing around for awhile and the mum’s enjoyed an even drinkable hot caffeinated beverage!!  It was nice to catch up with you both!!

Next stop, Taylor had a catch up swimming lesson.  But first , I stopped in at the Casual Foodie in Birkenhead to pick up some dinner for tonight because I just knew I wouldn’t feel like cooking later!  If you in Auckland and are looking for a great place to get reasonably priced gourmet frozen meals.. their food is so yummy.  Tonight we all ate Macaroni & Cheese.

I was feeling so tired by this point and really didn’t feel like getting in the pool (if you are reading this Zoe… hope you are feeling better!).  But I am so glad I did… Taylor just loves it.  We did lots of back floating today and she just lay back and snuggled into my shoulder and had this super cute little satisfied grin on her face as if to say… this is so nice and relaxing.  At one point – I could hold Taylor just under her head and a hand under her back and she was so happy to float around for a bit.  Totally different to her big brother.

Liam went home from swimming with Anna and had a further play. Apparently, they told everyone they had the BEST time at Lollipops and they really wanted to go again… what the?  So not how the day played out but I guess they did enjoy themselves then?

So by this time it was 3pm and I still hadn’t eaten lunch so I scoffed down the Potato Bacon and Rocket Salad with Mayo and Mustard dressing (also from the casual foodie) and a perfect snack for one and not badly priced at $5.60 either.

Liam came home at just after 4pm and an early dinner was in store.. Taylor enjoyed sampling the Macaroni & Cheese and Liam grizzled and groaned through it but ate it  in the end.

Just before dinner, the Fastways courier man came to visit to drop off the Mocka plastic highchair I ordered on Monday – yay .. now if I wasn’t so tired to put it together..

So that is pretty much Day 3 over… can’t wait for day 4 and 5 to be done and dusted as well.

Which means:

It is 2 days, 5 hours, 16 minutes, 31 seconds
until Saturday, 23 July 2011 at 12:15:00 a.m. (Auckland time)

  1. Good to hear that you are surviving okay on your own. Reminds me of last Sept hols when Rob was away for the whole 2 weeks. You do get into a rhythm though and your “way” of doing things … I kind of enjoyed the solitude but was still glad to have him home again. Only 2 more days, you can do it!! :-)

  2. Wow. It’s like you’re running a marathon there my friend. Keeping super busy, which is of course good when you’re single parenting! Need to eat though, and sleep. ;)
